Karine Rougier
Her reinterpretation of them create a mystical world, full of strange characters and mysterious scenes which transport us to a universe where time and place are kept secret and unguessable.
Her works bring us closer to nature and exude a certain kind of energy that links the elements of her canvas. She bring us back to the essence of life. Karine's practice includes wood on panel, drawing and collage. Her sensibilities drive her towards the adoption of miniature techniques. Recently, with Shifting Frames, she had the opportunity to discover traditional Indian miniature and learn their techniques from the forerunners of Indian miniature, Ajay and Vinita Sharma. One more source of inspiration that she now employs in her work. Karine Rougier (born in 1982) has been studying at Geneva’s school of decorative arts and DNSEP Aix-en-Provence art school. Her works have been part of several shows in France and abroad (Buenos Aires, Rome, New York). Her work is part of private and public collections all around the world.She has been representing Malte à the Venice Biennale in 2017 Karine has won the Drawing Now award 2022, she received Mécènes du Sud prizes in 2019, 2010, the Art Collector prize in 2013 among others. Karine lives and works in Marseille. |
